Luxe vs Less – Over the Knee Boots

Hello Readers,

You’d be forgiven for thinking I lived I must live in the Northern Hemisphere with all my posts about Summer. In fact I’m down under, where winter is ruling right now. As it’s the middle of winter in the Southern hemisphere and new winter clothes and shoes are being brought out in the northern ‘sphere that it was a perfect time for an article about over the knee boots.

I’ll admit I’ve had to warm up to the idea of OTKB. Being on the shorter side I always felt that they would make me look even shorter. However I have two key ways to style these. Suede over the knee boots with either a shift dress or mini sweater dress will keep you warm as well as stylish. The other way you can go is to pull the boots over leggings or jeans. Layer it up with texture on the top and go for it whether you want to spend a lot or a little..

On the Fringe – Luxe vs Less

Hello Readers,

If there’s one look your going for this Summer it’s boho-cool. The relaxed ‘effortless’ look made up of a neutral palette – warm browns, gold, bleached denim and delicate stone jewelry. Fringe, whether beaded or suede, is hot right now. So buckle up and be apart of the trend.

Heavy Metal – Luxe vs Less

Hello Readers,

I feel like at some point almost all types of jewellery go though a revolution of sorts. In recent times it’s been the ring, with the midi ring craze. Necklaces have been pared back with thing delicate chains in style, while bracelets with engraved idioms. Now it’s the humble earring’s turn. I’m loving the ode to metals with coppery, rose gold, silver, dark metals as well as the inclusion of pearls, crystals or stones. Run don’t walk to be apart of this growing trend.

Into the Wild – luxe vs less

Hello Readers,

This season, safari inspired belted dresses seems to be what’s on the horizon. Particularly light coloured mini dresses. While this may seem like a tricky trend ( no one wants to look like they’ve stepped out of the Jungle at work or a nice cocktail party ) there are certain accessories to avoid. Try not to use olive green shoes or tribal inspired necklaces or khaki printed jackets. Metal inspired accessories will work much better with your outfit, bringing it into the modern day concrete jungle rather than the leafy, animal dwelling one. Try gold shoes or rose gold bracelets, just be careful about the type of metal hardware on the dress – complimenting not clashing!

Part of the Tribe – luxe vs less

Hello Readers,

So here’s the deal.. gladiators are back. While I thought I’d left them behind a good five or six years ago I’m now dusting them off as they are currently ‘socially acceptable.’ However not only are they back but new and improved. They are considerably more wearable than the cheap black Target rubbers ones that cut me off at the ankles. Think brown light leathers rather than black, tie ups rather than zipping them up the back due to all the little buckles and the ditching of the buckles almost altogether. 2015’s gladiators are the hippier, lighter version of 2008’s gladiators. Wear them with chambray paperbag shorts, breezy plain t shirts, delicate stone jewellry and a brightly patterned head scarf if your feeling fabulous.

Here are some of my best affordable and extravagant picks…
